Introducing Joni Alexander
Joni first moved to Lawrence in 1997 to attend the University of Kansas, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology a few years later and purchased her first residential property in Lawrence all by the age of 23. Renovating older homes quickly became one of her passions, with that passion becoming lifelong as she has been involved in the real estate field for over 20 years! After college she traveled extensively with work opportunities and became further enamored with different cultures, the arts, and various architecture styles worldwide. These travels inspired her to become a pastry chef along the way and later influenced the concept and design of what would eventually become Alchemy Coffee & Bake House, a successful coffeeshop and bakery she co-owned and operated in Lawrence for nearly 10 years. Alchemy repeatedly won several community awards over the years, such as “Best Coffee or Tea Shop” and was acknowledged by Architectural Digest magazine as "one of the most beautiful shops in the state." Joni and the Alchemy team proudly served Lawrence in numerous ways by catering for special occasions, supplying specialty items in restaurants and grocery stores in the surrounding cities, and eventually housed several locations with their main brick and mortar shop located on Massachusetts street in historic Downtown Lawrence. During the years at Alchemy she not only was the inspiration behind the menu and interior design of the shops and branding, she also thrived on the personal connections with the Lawrence community and other business owners, all the while balancing motherhood along the way! Even during this busy season of life, she maintained her real estate involvement in a myriad of ways, such as owning her own residential home, involvement with commercial and investment properties, as a property and Airbnb manager, and often worked as a consultant and designer of home remodels and renovations. In fact, her last residential remodel was under contract in 3 days and set a record for the most dollars per square foot on the Lawrence MLS!
Now focusing her attention to helping people in the Lawrence community navigate the complexities of buying and selling real estate is something close to her heart, just like feeding the people she loves. Her life experience brings a solid blend of technical knowledge and that personal human touch to help her clients feel secure and accomplish their goals. She is more than honored to be a part of this community and to help in any way she can.
